sleeve, featuring 'Oriental Filigree' by Florence Broadhurst.
This sleeve has been developed to celebrate Florence Broadhurst, the highly
acclaimed Australian wallpaper and textile designer. Florence Broadhurst
abandoned convention and the restrictions of mass production and created
hundreds of unique and luxurious patterns. She called her revolutionary
handprinted creations "Vigorous designs for modern living". Peer inside the
toffee sleeve and you'll find out why.
The complex, eccentric and talented Florence Broadhurst was born in rural
Queensland, Australia in 1899. Her colourful career spanned the 20th century.
She lived and worked in Australia, Asia and England, performed
professionally on stage, ran a trucking company, was befriended by royalty
and started an internationally successful wallpaper company based upon her
own designs. Like her, her designs were all unique and ahead of their time.
Florence Broadhurst worked actively until her death in October 1977 at the
age of 78.
